What to do

Capture a thermal receipt before further fading and inspect the total, date, and seller reference closely. Preserve the original scan. If characters are absent or illegible, mark the affected values unresolved instead of substituting numbers suggested by the surrounding amounts.

A payment slip and an itemized receipt can contain different information; keep their roles separate.

Two worked review cases

These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.

Suggested review columns

ColumnDefinition or instruction
Readable seller textSeller name exactly as visible, without filling missing letters.
Printed date textDate as visible; unresolved characters retained for review.
Printed total evidenceReadable total and currency, or a note that they are illegible.

These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.

A practical review sequence

  1. Scan or photograph the receipt with even light before further handling.
  2. Compare critical fields with the visible original rather than interpolating.
  3. Request a supplier copy when required values cannot be read.

Errors to avoid

  • Do not heat a thermal receipt to try to restore it.
  • A mathematically plausible total is not evidence of faded source text.

Use the case worksheet with a small sample

Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.

For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
