What to do
A CSV field can contain a literal quotation mark when it is escaped according to the file’s quoting convention. Under common CSV rules, an embedded quote is doubled inside a quoted field. Use a CSV-aware importer rather than deleting quote characters globally.
Product descriptions containing dimensions or quoted model names are common places to inspect.
Two worked review cases
These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.
| Case | Fictional source excerpt | Review decision |
|---|---|---|
| Quoted name | CSV field: "Example ""Pro"" service" | Decoded field should read Example "Pro" service. |
| Broken syntax | Opening quote without a closing quote | Hold the file for correction rather than guessing record boundaries. |
Suggested review columns
| Column | Definition or instruction |
|---|---|
| Raw description | Source wording including meaningful quote marks. |
| CSV representation | Quoted and escaped field in the text file. |
| Imported description | Decoded text after a CSV-aware import. |
These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.
A practical review sequence
- Compare the raw description with its quoted CSV representation.
- Import through a CSV parser that understands escaped quotes.
- Inspect the decoded cell and confirm neighbouring columns remain aligned.
Errors to avoid
- Do not strip every quote from the file.
- A quotation mark inside a value is different from the quotes delimiting that value.
Use the case worksheet with a small sample
Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.
For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
