What to do
Use Power Query’s Text/CSV connector to preview the delimiter, encoding, headers, and data types before loading an invoice export. Keep identifier columns as text and review automatically inferred dates and amounts. Save transformation choices so the next comparable file can be reviewed consistently.
Power Query is an Excel import step outside Parzable; no dedicated integration is implied.
Two worked review cases
These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.
| Case | Fictional source excerpt | Review decision |
|---|---|---|
| Preserved reference | Invoice number 000482 assigned type Text | Confirm the leading zeros remain after load and reopen. |
| Locale mismatch | Amount 1.234,56 interpreted with an incompatible decimal convention | Review the source convention and the transformation’s locale before accepting the value. |
Suggested review columns
| Column | Definition or instruction |
|---|---|
| Source header | Original exported column name before renaming. |
| Assigned type | Text for identifiers; reviewed types for dates and amounts. |
| Transformation note | Recorded rename or conversion applied during the import. |
These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.
A practical review sequence
- Choose Data → From Text/CSV and select the untouched export.
- Use Transform Data to inspect headers and types before loading.
- Compare a representative set of loaded values with the original invoice records.
Errors to avoid
- Do not accept automatic type detection without checking critical columns.
- Do not combine changing file schemas merely because the same query can load them.
Use the case worksheet with a small sample
Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.
For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
