What to do

Record whether a discount belongs to one item, the whole invoice, or a conditional payment offer. Preserve its sign, unit, and label. Applying the same discount twice can make otherwise accurate extracted rows reconcile to the wrong total.

A discounted unit price can already include a reduction even when another nearby column shows the percentage for information.

Two worked review cases

These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.

CaseFictional source excerptReview decision
Header reductionItems 200.00; invoice discount 10.00; net 190.00Capture the 10.00 reduction once at invoice level.
Conditional offerTotal 200.00; save 2% if paid earlyRetain the condition; do not change the printed total to 196.00.

Suggested review columns

ColumnDefinition or instruction
Invoice discountPrinted invoice-level monetary reduction, with its label.
Item discount detailsPrinted row-level discounts tied to their item descriptions.
Conditional discount termsOffer dependent on payment or another event, retained as text.

These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.

A practical review sequence

  1. Locate the discount’s scope before selecting its destination column.
  2. Keep percent and monetary amounts distinct when both are shown.
  3. Reconcile using the printed net values and document which reduction was applied.

Errors to avoid

  • Do not subtract a discount again from an already-net line amount.
  • A promotion in a footer may not be an applied invoice adjustment.

Use the case worksheet with a small sample

Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.

For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
