What to do
Build a small set that reflects the invoices you actually receive, including difficult layouts and source problems. Keep manually reviewed expected answers and separate some unseen documents from the ones used to tune descriptions. A clean showcase set cannot establish routine performance.
The aim is to uncover specific failure modes and review effort, not produce a flattering headline percentage.
Two worked review cases
These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.
| Case | Fictional source excerpt | Review decision |
|---|---|---|
| Unbalanced sample | Ten sharp one-page invoices from one supplier | Useful for that layout, but insufficient evidence for mixed-supplier batches. |
| Varied sample | Different suppliers plus a credit note, blurry scan, and multi-page table | Report outcomes by segment and retain unresolved-source cases separately. |
Suggested review columns
| Column | Definition or instruction |
|---|---|
| Document segment | Supplier/layout, page count, source quality, and currency category. |
| Expected answer reference | Manually reviewed source values for required fields. |
| Pilot role | Tuning example or held-out evaluation document. |
These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.
A practical review sequence
- List the document segments in the normal intake workflow.
- Select readable references and include real difficulty rather than only clean files.
- Freeze a held-out subset and evaluate revisions without rewriting its expected answers.
Errors to avoid
- Do not discard failed documents from the reported denominator without explanation.
- Do not treat fictional teaching examples as measured customer performance.
Use the case worksheet with a small sample
Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.
For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
