What to do

Determine whether the purchase-order reference is absent, unreadable, mislabelled, or missed by extraction. These are different exceptions. Do not fill the field using a nearby invoice number or a likely open order without separate supporting evidence.

Whether a PO is required depends on the destination workflow; extraction cannot establish that business rule.

Two worked review cases

These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.

CaseFictional source excerptReview decision
Missed extractionSource clearly shows Your PO: PO-22; output is N/AClarify the description or correct the reviewed staging value from the source.
Absent sourceNo purchase-order reference anywhere on the complete invoiceRoute the missing-reference exception; do not invent a number.

Suggested review columns

ColumnDefinition or instruction
PO source statusPrinted, absent, unreadable, or extraction missed it.
Raw reference textExact visible reference and its label.
Resolution evidenceReviewer note or additional source needed to proceed.

These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.

A practical review sequence

  1. Inspect all pages and labels such as Your order or Customer PO.
  2. Check the schema description distinguishes PO from invoice reference.
  3. Request authorized clarification when the destination requires a missing reference.

Errors to avoid

  • Do not use the invoice identifier as a placeholder PO.
  • A blank reference is not proof that the purchase was unauthorized.

Use the case worksheet with a small sample

Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.

For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
