What to do
Retain printed values at their displayed precision and calculate differences separately. Small differences can result from different rounding presentations, but size alone does not prove the cause. Identify the source’s printed basis and record the reviewer’s explanation.
Do not create an arbitrary tolerance rule and treat every smaller difference as correct.
Two worked review cases
These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.
| Case | Fictional source excerpt | Review decision |
|---|---|---|
| Printed adjustment | Calculated check 10.01; rounding line -0.01; printed total 10.00 | Retain the explicit adjustment and its sign. |
| No explanation | Items sum to 10.01; total shows 10.00 with no adjustment | Record a 0.01 difference for review instead of declaring it automatically acceptable. |
Suggested review columns
| Column | Definition or instruction |
|---|---|
| Displayed precision | Decimal places visible on unit prices and amounts. |
| Printed rounding adjustment | Explicit source rounding line, if any. |
| Unexplained difference | Difference remaining after source-based reconciliation. |
These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.
A practical review sequence
- Preserve unit prices and amounts as printed, including extra decimal precision.
- Check whether rounding is performed per row or only in the displayed summary.
- Have the reviewer document any accepted difference and its evidence.
Errors to avoid
- Do not change source amounts just to make a sum match.
- A one-cent difference can still reflect a reading error.
Use the case worksheet with a small sample
Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.
For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
