What to do
Compare the printed item amounts, discounts, additional charges, and tax presentation with the source summary. Keep extracted and calculated values separate. A failed arithmetic check is a reason to inspect the source, not permission to replace its total with a calculated answer.
Only combine amounts with the same currency and an understood net/gross basis.
Two worked review cases
These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.
| Case | Fictional source excerpt | Review decision |
|---|---|---|
| Explained summary | Items 120.00; discount 10.00; delivery 5.00; tax 23.00; total 138.00 | 120 - 10 + 5 + 23 equals the printed 138.00. |
| Unexpected difference | Same details, but extracted total 183.00 | Hold and compare digits and omitted charges with the original. |
Suggested review columns
| Column | Definition or instruction |
|---|---|
| Printed subtotal | Source-labelled subtotal before later summary adjustments. |
| Printed adjustments | Discounts, charges, and tax under their own labels. |
| Reviewed difference | Separately calculated check with the formula recorded. |
These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.
A practical review sequence
- Determine which printed values are already included in the subtotal.
- Calculate a separate check without modifying source columns.
- Investigate every difference and retain the review decision.
Errors to avoid
- Do not add tax again when the subtotal already includes it.
- A matching total does not establish that the invoice is authorized for payment.
Use the case worksheet with a small sample
Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.
For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
