What to do
Import invoice identifiers as text before a spreadsheet interprets them as numbers. Changing the display format after zeros have been removed may not restore the original identifier. Keep the raw CSV and compare the result with the source invoice.
A numerical-looking identifier is still a label, not a quantity to calculate with.
Two worked review cases
These cases are fictional teaching data, not measured extraction results. Use the source excerpts to practise deciding what belongs in the reviewed output.
| Case | Fictional source excerpt | Review decision |
|---|---|---|
| Identifier preserved | Source and CSV contain 000482 | Import as text and confirm the cell remains 000482. |
| Already changed | Spreadsheet shows 482 after automatic conversion | Reimport the original CSV as text rather than inventing a zero count. |
Suggested review columns
| Column | Definition or instruction |
|---|---|
| Invoice number | Exact identifier including leading zeros. |
| Supplier reference | Exact printed supplier or account reference. |
| Import type | Reviewer-selected text type for identifier columns. |
These are suggested staging-sheet columns. Printed facts can inform field descriptions in Parzable’s Schemas view; source references, review statuses, and decisions must be supplied by your own review process.
A practical review sequence
- Keep the exported file unchanged as a reference.
- Use the spreadsheet import preview to assign identifier columns a text type.
- Save, reopen, and compare a leading-zero identifier with the source.
Errors to avoid
- Do not add a fixed number of zeros unless the original establishes them.
- Quotation marks in CSV do not guarantee a spreadsheet will preserve a text-like identifier.
Use the case worksheet with a small sample
Download this page’s worked-case worksheet. It contains the two fictional cases above and a blank row for your own review exercise. Keep any real source documents in your agreed storage process.
For the broader product workflow, see the related guide. Parzable accepts PDF/image inputs and downloads CSV. Suggested structures here are review targets; nested item rows, automatic approvals, and destination integrations are not guaranteed.
